Platysmal Bands
Platysmal bands, also known as neck bands, are a common sign of aging in the neck and décolleté area. These bands appear when the platysma muscle, which covers the neck area, becomes more prominent due to a loss of skin elasticity and firmness. Over the years, gravity, sun exposure, and decreased collagen production exacerbate this problem, creating a "wrinkled neck" appearance that can significantly affect the overall appearance of the face and décolleté. Platysmal bands can cause the neck and décolleté to lose definition and give the impression of premature aging. Although they are a natural part of the aging process, many people seek solutions to soften their appearance and restore smoother, more youthful skin in this key area. Keeping the skin of the neck and décolleté moisturized and protected can delay the appearance of these bands, but their visibility increases over time without proper care.
