Medik8's Bakuchiol Peptides is a clinically proven alternative to retinol. Although molecularly unrelated to retinoids, recent studies demonstrate that bakuchiol is comparable to retinol in its anti-aging effects and is better tolerated. It is the perfect alternative for those who cannot use vitamin A. Capable of preventing and reversing premature aging, it helps stimulate collagen and elastin production.

Bakuchiol's ability to minimize melanin synthesis, combined with the blocking of inflammatory pathways within the skin, results in a visibly calmer and more even skin tone. Fat-soluble brightening peptide precursors penetrate the skin easily, blocking pigment production, resulting in a visibly brighter and more even complexion with less hyperpigmentation. Centella asiatica helps stimulate collagen production and is perfect for visibly soothing and calming sensitive, inflamed skin. Inka omega oil is rich in omegas 3, 6, and 9, and is able to penetrate the gaps in the stratum corneum to restore the skin's natural barrier and lock in moisture.

Benefits
  • It stimulates collagen production.
  • Minimizes the formation of stains.
  • It soothes the skin and blocks inflammatory pathways.
  • It helps to lighten skin tone and minimizes melanin synthesis.
How to use

After cleansing in the morning and evening, apply 6 drops of Medik8 Bakuchiol Peptides to the face, neck, and décolleté. Allow it to absorb before applying moisturizer.

Active ingredients
  • Bakuchiol is an ingredient derived from the Psoralea corylifolia plant, also known as the lilac-colored Indian babchi plant. It is an anti-aging alternative to retinol, ideal for sensitive skin that does not tolerate vitamin A. It has been shown to provide similar results to retinol in terms of collagen stimulation and skin rejuvenation. Bakuchiol is a monoterpene phenol with a functionality similar to that of retinol. Although bakuchiol has no structural resemblance to retinoids, it can act as a functional analog of retinol. Bakuchiol is also known for its skin-soothing properties. It exerts its anti-inflammatory effect by interfering with the arachidonic acid pathway. It is known to downregulate pro-inflammatory genes to a similar extent to retinol. It has also been shown to help minimize the formation of dark spots by inhibiting 5-alpha reductase sebum production and acting as an anti-inflammatory and antibacterial agent. Finally, bakuchiol is known to lighten the skin by blocking the melanin synthesis pathway.
  • Sepiwhite – a precursor to brightening peptides. A lipo-amino acid that easily penetrates the skin to help block melanin-stimulating hormone (MSH). By blocking this hormone, it helps control tyrosinase activity. Ultimately, this prevents melanin production, resulting in a visibly brighter and more even complexion with less hyperpigmentation. The INCI name of Sepiwhite, a patented peptide precursor, is undecylenoyl phenylalanine.
  • Centella Asiatica – Centella asiatica, a growing trend in the Korean beauty market, is more commonly known as Cica. It is promoted as a solution for healing sensitive or compromised skin. Cica, with its bakuchiol peptides, contributes its anti-inflammatory properties to help soothe sensitive skin and minimize redness. Cica provides the perfect complement to bakuchiol, helping to calm sensitivity and heal compromised skin. Cica extract also stimulates collagen synthesis, boosting type I collagen to reduce and improve the appearance of scar tissue. Centella asiatica is also able to minimize skin inflammation, preventing the inflammatory cascade to minimize irritation and redness.
  • Inka Omega Oil – Bakuchiol Peptides contains Inka omega oil, one of the world's highest sources of omega fatty acids, to replenish and restore the skin's natural barrier. Inka omega oil is derived from a plant native to the rainforests of the South American Andes. It is organic and extracted using only cold-processing techniques. The omega fatty acids penetrate the spaces between skin cells in the stratum corneum to restore the skin's natural barrier and lock in moisture loss. This highly nourishing Inka omega oil moisturizes and hydrates the skin.
