El mejor tratamiento que he probado para bolsas y ojeras es un masaje de toda la vida

The best treatment I've tried for bags and dark circles under the eyes is a good old-fashioned massage.

There are many facials available, but this one, based on the principles of lymphatic drainage, delivers immediate results. And you can do it at home.

Vogue Beldon facials

The best treatment I've tried for bags and dark circles under my eyes—and I have particularly stubborn dark circles, by the way—is based on a classic massage. There are many facials available (and very sophisticated ones, with and without equipment). And there are also medical-aesthetic techniques to address dark circles in the long term. But sometimes the most traditional methods can be the most effective. This is the case with lymphatic drainage, a perfect technique for treating fluid retention and working on the lymphatic system. Until now, I had only tried it on my body, but its facial counterpart—I'm referring to Beldon Beauty's Harmony Face—is undoubtedly one of the most effective (and fastest) treatments I've ever tried. When I left the treatment room and looked in the mirror, I noticed the difference (a lot), and then several people told me I looked "really good." Those 45 minutes lying on the treatment table were reflected in my face as if I'd had the best sleep in the world or had been on vacation for several days. And I can promise, and I do promise, that not every time I've tried a facial have I had that immediate feeling of a healthy face (and without pronounced bags).

The benefits of lymphatic drainage

A well-performed lymphatic drainage massage—especially one practiced regularly—can be one of the best ways to relieve swelling and fluid retention. While we generally associate these issues with the body, this retention also occurs in the face, resulting in a more tired appearance than usual. As Beldon Beauty explains when discussing this technique, “the lymphatic system plays a very important role in our health and beauty. Through a network of hundreds of lymph nodes, a fluid called lymph is drained and transported back into the bloodstream. It also removes bodily waste and carries white blood cells that help prevent infections. When there is any kind of blockage in our lymphatic system, fluid can begin to accumulate.” This 45-minute massage uses various drainage techniques with gentle movements that activate this system, eliminate some of the toxins that cause swelling, and minimize signs of fatigue such as dark circles under the eyes. In addition, it also activates blood circulation and improves skin tone, making it a good alternative before an event or after a long trip.

Self-massage that can be done at home

It's interesting to consider the recommendation from the Beldon Beauty team to try a self-massage based on lymphatic drainage techniques:

  1. It begins with stimulation of points on the temple and tear duct, performing gentle pumping motions with the fingertips.

  2. Then, below the eye, from the temple and towards the tear duct –it is important to do it in this direction and not the other way around– with the index or middle finger, make a gentle wave-like movement as if it were a worm.

  3. The same movement is repeated on the fixed eyelid side, in the same direction: from the temple to the tear duct.

The cold always helps.

And going back to tried-and-true tricks, applying something cold to the under-eye area also works: from eye cream that's been chilled in the fridge, to a chamomile tea bag, a slice of cucumber…
