Shock waves

What are shock waves?
Shockwave therapy is a cutting-edge technology in aesthetic medicine, known for its effectiveness in non-invasive treatments to improve skin appearance and body contour. It consists of high-energy acoustic pulses applied to the skin using an applicator, which are transmitted through the tissue to stimulate cell regeneration processes.
Although originally used in medicine for other purposes, such as breaking up kidney stones, their application in aesthetics has proven revolutionary. There are mainly two types of shock waves used in these treatments:
- Focused shock waves: They penetrate to a greater depth, making them ideal for treating severe sagging, fibrosis, or scars.
- Radial pressure waves: They act on more superficial layers of the skin, being very effective against cellulite, orange peel skin or recent stretch marks.

Personalized Preliminary Diagnosis at Beldon Beauty
Before starting any treatment, we conduct a personalized pre-treatment assessment . This crucial step allows us to fully understand your type of cellulite, the level of accumulated fat, your skin's elasticity, and your lifestyle. This approach helps us personalize the shockwave therapy treatment to perfectly suit your needs.
After the winter neglect - at least at a physical level - the body begins to uncover itself, full of toxins and with poor circulation.
Sagging skin, fat deposits, and cellulite are the collateral damage, and treatments that address both the root cause of the problem and its symptoms are essential.
Cellulite is a multifactorial problem, and until we understand it, we run the risk of limiting ourselves to one of its symptoms and not tackling it definitively.
How do shock waves work?
Shockwave therapy works by stimulating the body's natural regeneration processes. Its mechanism of action is based on several key effects:
-
Fat nodule breakdown: High-energy pulses impact adipose tissue, breaking down the fat nodules responsible for cellulite. This process, known as lipolysis, releases the contents of the fat cells so the body can eliminate them naturally.
-
Collagen and elastin stimulation: The waves promote the production of new collagen and elastin fibers, essential components for the elasticity, firmness and smoothness of the skin, helping to combat sagging.
-
Improved circulation: They increase blood microcirculation and lymphatic drainage. This is essential for eliminating accumulated fats, fluids, and toxins, visibly improving the appearance of cellulite.
Metabolic activation: Stimulating tissues accelerates cellular metabolism, facilitating waste elimination and improving overall skin health.

Main Applications and Benefits of Shockwave Therapy
Thanks to its triple effect (reducing, firming and circulatory), shock waves are used to treat a wide variety of aesthetic imperfections:
-
Cellulite: This is one of its most popular uses. They are effective for all grades of cellulite (I, II, and III), reducing fat nodules and improving microcirculation.
-
Sagging: By stimulating collagen production, they tighten and smooth the skin in critical areas such as arms, abdomen, buttocks and thighs.
-
Localized fat: They contribute to the reduction of volume in problem areas, helping to sculpt the silhouette.
-
Facial rejuvenation: They are also used in facial treatments to firm the skin, reduce wrinkles, improve luminosity and tone, and stimulate collagen in areas such as the facial oval, neck and double chin.
Improved skin texture: Its ability to regenerate connective tissue helps to reduce the appearance of recent scars and stretch marks.

Contraindications and Possible Side Effects
Although shockwave therapy is a safe and non-invasive treatment, there are certain contraindications that must be considered. Its application is not recommended in the following cases:
- Pregnancy.
- Coagulation disorders or treatment with anticoagulants.
- Infections, burns or wounds in the area to be treated.
- Presence of tumors.
Areas to avoid: The treatment should not be applied to sensitive areas such as the eyes, ears, lungs, or intestines.
As for side effects, the treatment is painless and does not require anesthesia. It is normal to experience slight redness in the treated area (erythema) due to increased circulation, which usually disappears within a few hours.

What you will notice on a physical level
- Stimulates metabolism and eliminates fat cells.
- Visible reduction of cellulite.
- The skin is left with a smoother and more even texture.
- Collagen and elastin synthesis is activated.
- Tissues regenerate.
- It improves blood circulation, so you'll feel lighter.
